Inspired by a love for lost histories and hidden treasures

The Lost and Found Lab is an artist’s residency located in Cos Cob, CT created in honor of James Stevenson by the artist Josie Merck.

Housed in a contemporary and thoroughly considered state-of-the-art building, Lost and Found Lab engages one artist at a time to work free of restrictions or requirements.  Set in the woods of Connecticut, the live/work space provides uninterrupted time for reflection, contemplation and inspiration.  Artists have access to libraries, archives, and other hidden treasures, guiding them during their retreat at the Lab.

The Lab’s mission is to provide a work and living space to visual artists, scholars, curators, writers, composers, arts professionals and interdisciplinary thinkers drawn to exploring the relationship between visual art and the written word.

When a place is true to a kind of North Star, whether consciously or not, it flourishes in unexpected ways.  Synergies and serendipity abound.  Lost and Found Lab is that kind of place.
